Past Visiting Students
Henrike Schlagert, Dipl.-Psych.
Henrike is a psychologist (Dipl.-Psych.) who just completed her studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germany, where she conducted a laboratory study on the protective effect of social support on cardiovascular reactivity and the moderating influence of depressive mood on the relationship between social support and heart rate variability. She is supporting Dr. Linden and his team of the Behavioural Cardiology lab to gather international research experience before she will start additional training as a professional clinical psychologist (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, CBT) at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 2011.
Victoria Schroder
Victoria is currently at the end of her first year of the Bachelor of Science in Psychology, studying in Germany. During her summer holiday 2010, she is accompanying Dr.Linden and his team of the Behavioural Cardiology Lab at UBC. Her interests lie within the realm of psychology, specifically in how psychological factors such as individual’s attitude, worrying and other traits affect their physical health. Further, she is eager to learn more about how psychology can preventatively focus more on people’s well-being instead of just treating resulting problems. How does, for example, a positive attitude affect our lives? Or: does optimism lead to less physical health problems?
